The Giving Tree Festival is a great opportunity for property management and vacation rental companies to get involved in raising funds for local non-profits. Here’s how we can participate as local business owners and make our owners and guests happy at the same time.
Most property management companies have owners or guests who request Christmas décor in their homes prior to their arrival. For some of your clients it might be a great fit to purchase a Giving Tree Festival tree. These trees will be designed by non-profits often in collaboration with interior designers and will include all sorts of add-ons (which might include spa certificates, themed gifts, event tickets, handmade ornaments, dining certificates, etc.) while benefitting local non-profits.
The cost of these trees will be comparable to a tree from any local company that offers Christmas décor. The non-profits have been asked to submit trees for auction at prices from $1,000 to $10,000 per tree – but don’t let that limit your clients’ donations! A large donation that exceeds the value of the tree may be tax deductible. A nice way to support a non-profit, get a tree and get that year-end tax write off.
For your property management clients, the online tree auctions offer buy-it-now prices along with photos. This way they can choose to complete their Christmas décor with not only a gorgeous tree but also lots of fabulous extras AND a tax exempt donation to a local non-profit.
It’s a win for you – it’s a win for them and it’s a win for the community!
The available trees, including lists of the add-on “swag” and buy-it-now pricing, will be on the website at 12:00 p.m. on November 18, 2016. In the meantime, please explain this great concept to your concierge team, sales team and any clients interested in Christmas décor. If you have any interested parties – let me know – and I will gladly follow up with you as we get the final details.
